| Kerensamere was the name that my parents gave the house that I grew up in on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I am told that it means "love and peace by the water."
Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, I spent plenty of time at the beach. My parents and I often spent our vacations sailing the waterways. They encouraged me to learn how to swim, canoe, sail and sailboard while I was growing up. I find that the water has a great influence on my creativity. Much of my work is inspired by water and life in and around it.
Additionally, my father encouraged me to become an entrepreneur for most of my life. For over 15 years my parents ran a home medical supply business, showing me real life examples of how to run a successful business.
Later my mother opened an art gallery, selling the works of artists from around the world. By watching her, I have learned more about the art world and the way business is done in that environment.

Together my parents always supported my creative endeavors. Sadly, my Father passed away unexpectedly in 1999. Starting my business and naming it Kerensamere is a special "tip of my hat" to my father and mother for inspiring me and encouraging me to follow my dreams and giving me the tools and strength to make them a reality.
Thanks Mom and Dad! |
